Hayley has been a physiotherapist for babies and children since 2006. She loves supporting child development through gross motor play.
Hayley has a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Curtin University. She comes to TLC WA with over 20 years’ experience working at the Perth Metropolitan Child Development Service and Childrens’ Hospital. She has also worked in schools with the Child and Young Peoples Heath Service in London (UK).
Hayley has extensive experience in early childhood development, with particular interest in gross motor play and infant handling and positioning and how that supports other areas of development such as communication and interaction with their environment to learn with flow through positive impacts on baby settling, feeding and sleep. She works with children who are late to reach early motor milestones (learning to roll, sit, crawl and walk), concerns regarding their baby’s head shape or head tilt and follow up care of children born prematurely. She enjoys working collaboratively with families to empower them to feel confident in supporting their child’s development at home and in the community to give their little ones the best start to life.
Hayley is passionate about motor skill development as one of the foundations of overall child development. Hayley supports children in their early school years with gross motor skills like running, jumping, balance, frequent falls, hopping, ball games, low muscle tone, joint hypermobility, core strength and postural control, walking concerns (like knock knees, bowlegs, in-toeing or flat feet) and difficulties with motor coordination. Hayley enjoys supporting parents, educators and community organisations in fostering neuro-affirming practices and strategies to support school aged children with Developmental Coordination Disorder to thrive within their community.
As a mum of three children herself, Hayley understands the importance of integrating simple, achievable strategies into everyday routines and utilise child’s strengths and interests to support parents to engage with their child in developmental play, family connection and enjoyment in their child’s successes. Hayley is known for her friendly, practical, fun and play-based approach. She is available for appointments on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during school hours.
